My 25th Birthday

My birthday weekend!

Hello readers!

Thank you for coming back for yet another edition of my blog. This story is pretty damn cool mainly because it goes over what I did for my 25th birthday weekend.

I went to NYC to go see Michael Cera's new play This Is Our Youth. My girlfriend and I bought our bus tickets, bought our play tickets and I got us comped for the stay at HI - NY. It was so exciting everything was falling right into place perfectly!

We arrived where the huge Macy's is, where they have the Macies Day Parade. We walked around for a bit and made our way to the hostel where we checked in and got freshened up. We cleaned up and then headed out to go back down town to get ready for the play. We walked around time square and got $1 pizza which was nice! We walked over to the Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Center checked that out, as well as walk around the insides of NBC studios. This is the first time I came back in here since I got front row tickets to be on Jimmy Fallon back in 09'. It was tight to see the insides again and see the Christmasy stuff.

It was play time. We walked over, gave our tickets, was given a free program, and went to our seats. This building was incredible!
We were at The Cort Theater. The walls had really great murals, and the seating was super nice too. The stage props, and background was done so good. It was based in 1980's and the plot of the play is Michael Cera steals some money from his father, his friend (Kieran Culkin) let's him stay there. MC meets an awkward girl that he likes, etc. It was a classically awkward Michael Cera movie. Needless to say I got my money's worth. It was about a 2-2 1/2 hour play. We walked outside and it was raining and cold. We were trying to figure out something to do but everything was closed on a Friday at 10:30pm in The City That Never Sleeps...
We stood outside of the theater and Michael Cera walks out. We got to talk to him for a short bit. He was so awesome. He wished me a happy birthday and autographed my program booklet. It was really sick! I loved it.

Kim and I headed back to the hostel and called it a night. The next morning we ate at the infamous Tom's Restaurant, which is known as the Seinfeld restaurant which is shown in many of the episodes. We walked around the Manhattan river and then headed down town to go check out China Town for a few hours. The culture, and things to see there were really rad. We then made out way to SOHO and checked out the clothing shops there and picked up a book on burning man, after that we finally decided to make our way to my favorite part of NY. Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We stopped in this Pad Thai place we ate at back in Feb that had the best damn Pad Thai EVER, and once again they proved it to us. We then walked over to The Manhattan Inn where likes of bands like MGMT, We Are Scientists, Chairlift, Matt & Kim, etc. are known to be at, unfortunately it was super pricy in there so we headed on out and made it over to Rough Trade Records where we played with their demo Moog boards, and pedals. It was really dope going in there again.

Lastly we finished out night by meeting with my friend Luis at Silent Barn and watched a noise show there. Hung out and caught up with each other. It was a fun day/night all together. We enjoyed talking and seeing the different parts of the city again.

The next morning we woke up at the hostel and had a bus to catch at 1:30pm so we packed up and left. We headed down to The Statue Liberty, we walked over to Ground Zero. We then headed back up to our bus and made our way back home.

It was such a great birthday weekend. I enjoyed it so much and am so happy I got to spend it with my amazing girlfriend.
Thank you for reading!
