Eat More Fruit

A Noble Cause

This month started off with me getting a phone call from my aunt (a cancer and heart transplant survivor) to tell me a homeless cat she's been feeding is very ill and needed treatment immediately. Knowing that my aunt is poor from her monthly medical bills. She took the initiative to put herself in more debt by getting treatment for the cat. She saved the cat from it's potential life threatening illness and decided to keep the 1 year old kitten. This action came as no surprise to me as she has a history of adopting those that need help. I was adopted by her and she's a true hero to me and those that need support.

Eat More Fruit Things

The flyer is inspiration for one of my new years resolutions to eat more fruit,

I hosted/played yet another fantastic hostel show. This months line up consisted of Kyndal Gehlbach, Pennington, Pelvis Presley, and Sean Michael Wilson Band. The music was much more folk driven than previous shows, which I fondly enjoy because it allows for different transitions of genres to be heard.  The show started off with an immense crowd and continued to digress throughout the evening. It was a solid turn out and even those staying at the hostel relished the music. I reached out to my friend Alex to donate boxes of Kind Bars to the show as usual. The Kind Bars were distributed for everyone to have and I had leftovers to give to my family and friends. I played a short but sweet set and debuted my new tune "Gal Pal" live, which will be followed by a music video April first. I plan on continuing these marvelous shows and thoroughly enjoy having them.

BNote Second Series Emerging

Since coming back to Baltimore in December 2013 I continue to dedicate a large sum of my time to The Baltimore BNote. I see the BNote as a way to help redevelop our community and better structure our economy. I have done many things for The BNote such as recruit lots of new businesses to accept, help get the BNote get on the LED Baltimore screen, and introduce former mayor Shelia Dixon to BNotes.  I've been pushing and motivating the idea of releasing a second series since my comeback. The time is finally come, The Baltimore BNote Green Currency is coming out with a second set of notes which will be the $10's and $20's and I couldn't be anymore excited.

This month we've set dates and times for our initial launch in April. We have flyer designs and have been contacting the press. We even had a very successful meeting at Waverly Brewery on St. Patrick's Day reaching out to the owner to accept. He bought our drinks and we drank the night away discussing the benefits of the currency to the owner. He seemed very fond of it and it will a lot of fun being in such an awesome local establishment.

Julie (the founders wife) had her art hung up in Gallery 788 recently during an art reception. The BNote will also be holding the second series launch party at the gallery. Kim and I decided to attend the event. We were representing The BNote walking around talking to people about our upcoming event. We enjoyed the free beer and hung out with the artists. After awhile we were standing around, not sure what to do. A girl and her two friends tapped me on the shoulder and asked

"hey, are you Pelvis Presley?"
I replied "yes, yes I am"

She said she went to one of my hostel shows and really enjoyed my set and had my song "Ghosting" stuck in her head for weeks. That was one of the best interactions I've had with a stranger ever. She showed me her art, as it was featured in this show too. I told her about The BNote upcoming event and how we were looking for local artists and recruited her and her awesome work to be in the show. More info about the show and the second series reveal is on The BNote's website.

Miscellaneous

House Of Cards has a new season and I'm in epsodes (Chapter 43, 48, 49). Keep a sharp eye out for me. I had a lot of fun filming it and have to keep it top secret every time I film. I'm use to this routine since my The Price Is Right days. I got to be on set with my friend Mike for a Towson scene and my friend Logan twice for a down town scene. It helped pass the 12 hour shoot day. I plan on keep on shoving my face down the camera's lens for the rest of my life. Check it out!

I came in 300th place out of 4560 runners. It was at the Shamrock 5K. It was paid for by my work and I ran it with my boss. I'm in full running mode this year. My goal is to try and run 366 miles this year (leap year, one extra day/mile). I also am considering trying to run a full 26.2 mile marathon. Ready, set, go. Track my runs on Strava if you want to see my progress, run with me, or race against me. Let's do it!

Nerd rap at Metro Gallery, the one and only Mc Chris (Mc Pee Pants on Aqua Teen Hunger Force) played a thriller set. He hit out all the nerd tunes I used to listen to before my bed time curfew. He was fantastic "I'm a ninja, I'm a mother fucking ninja". Cowabunga Pizza Time - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed Baltimore local band opened for them. They were just as good. Turns out the guitarist wife used to manage the hostel I work at and I got to speak to her about it. It's always fascinating to get the perspective of someone who use to work at the hostel before my time.

New suit! A very generous anonymous friend who has helped and given me so much in the past. Has recently bought me a brand new suit for all these fantastic job interviews I have been having. The suit is incredible. I've been getting compliments from the employers and am ecstatic I now have something professional to wear in times of need.

I'm going to *drum roll* Denver April 5th - 9th. Kim and I are flying there to check out a school she got accepted into. It's her first time and it's my first time back since living there for the month of October 2012. We're going to check out the breweries, the towns, and celebrate (late) the Broncos super bowl win last month. Wooo!

The Bitter Scenester Podcast is a local Baltimore podcast and I am on the most recent episode (24) talking about the hostel shows I've been hosting, the Baltimore BNote second series reveal, and my solo work as Pelvis Presley. I also got to play some tunes on the podcast. You can listen here:

If anyone is interested a bunch of new albums and music are coming out in April I'm excited for such as The Last Shadow Puppets. I've heard many new songs on it already and it sounds really great. I super highly recommend checking it out. We Are Scientists, I've seen these guys 11 times. They have a new song called "Buckle" and I have fallen in love with it. Flesh Light Fuckers which is mine and Thom's rap side project. We're coming out with a new single called "Ollie's Carpet Labyrinth". It's comedy cult music. Lastly I'm putting out a music video for Pelvis Presley's new single "Gal Pal" which will be out April 1st. Get excited!
