A New Decade, A New Life

Wow...

It's literally been years since I've updated this blog. My life has changed dramatically since my last post (New Year's Eve 2017). Instead of writing an entire post about my absence, I'll provide a brief synopsis.

Grand Lake, NPS tour
2018 - I continued my show at Met Radio, visited 4 National Parks (Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, Arches, Rocky) in 4 days w/ Kim and Bailey. Moved back to Baltimore May 31st after Kim and I finally split up after 4 1/2 + years. Rekindled past friendships after a two year absence in Denver. Flew back to Denver in July to perform and release my album "Bon Voyage" at The Underground Music Showcase 2018, worked for the Baltimore Hostel again in community engagement. Drove to Miami to help my friend Adam move. Lastly ran a half marathon in Philly with my best time yet 1:48:45. BAM!

Santa Monica, November 2019
2019 - Hosted monthly music showcases at HI Baltimore, visited my 50th state Alaska with my friend James (featured in our hometown newspaper), performed at The Vigil MICA All Night Music Festival as well as 3 unofficial Artscape shows during the weekend of the festival. I moved back to Denver in July after my Aunt passed away. Press listed to The UMS, Meow Wolf music festival (Taos, NM), as well as countless other awesome shows. Continued my show at Met Raido and became a DJ at 92.9FM radio Denver, ran my first trail half marathon in LA. As well as many other cool and interesting things, but let's get to the present.

2020

I started the new decade by outlining goals I want to achieve this year. Feeling more determined than ever before for success, I decided to attempt new things to better build my life and brand.

One of my goals being I want to interview, collaborate, and befriend individuals within the industry I immerse myself within, entertainment. I went to Facebook and looked through upcoming events of artists I thought would be intriguing to hear their story on my show.

This has since brought me to contact King Khan & BBQ Show, Saint Motel, YACHT, Com Truise, Kilo Kish, Washed Out, Cold War Kids, Telepopmusik, Jacques Greene, Rob Garza (Thievery Corporation), Tommy Cash, Peter, Bjorn, and John, and a few others.

What has been the result? I've interviewed 2020 Grammy Nominee YACHT, 2004 Grammy nominee Telepopmusik, Adult Swim/Ghostly International contributor Mux Mool, and Spotify discover Weekly artist: OptycNerd. Press listed to Cold War Kids covering their set within a journalist perspective providing my insight on FM radio the next day.Setting up an interview w/ Rob Garza (Thievery Corporation), and being sent Peter, Bjorn, and John's new album a week early to provide my thoughts on it on the show I host at 92.9FM.

*** These interviews can all be listened to on Spotify and Apple Podcasts The Shaky Experience ***

Early this year, I discovered House of Pod. This is an incubator hub for podcasters, as well as a few other things, but I believe that is their main objective. I met fellow podcasters that invited me to share my story on their shows.

Low Orbit (future guest read) - I request to meet with Josh to talk about podcasting and his experience within the industry. He provided me with lots of feedback and knowledge I am grateful to have received from.

This new drive I've taken on to completely immerse myself into broadcasting has been an outstanding journey. It has been very educational, but also has given me new opportunities that feel very rewarding, just for the adventure of meeting new, interesting, like minded people.

Hookup Culture 2020 Pt 1 EP cover
January 17th, I released a new EP called "Hookup Culture 2020 Pt 1" by Pelvis Presley. This is the most naked I've ever felt within my own lyrics. The genre is experimental, spoken word, with ambient background sounds. My friend Zac recorded and produced it. I had an official release show at Glitter City Studios with support by Apollo Shortwave and The Amphibious Man.

Listen to my new EP here!

This SUMMER! I plan on releasing my third full length as Pelvis Presley. My other project The Shaky Experience will be releasing our forth full length this year as well. I've debuted lots of new material at my recent sets at Glitter City, Horse House, and my featured set at Corner Beet. Stay tuned for album details and additional information on our Facebook pages.

Miscellaneous:

I did a photo shoot w/ 303 Magazine photos taken by Ultra5280 founder Castro on 303 Day! Photos can be found ink the link below. It's incredible how much shine and free resources the scene in Colorado provides to artists. This experience was a blast and took me back to being one of their featured artist on 303 Day 2018 which can be found here.

Hitch Hiking Story
I hitch hiked recently (sorta). The night before, I was coming back from a party called French Punk and my chain fell off the next day I went to the bike shop to have my main form of transportation repaired. The guy told me it would be at least $100 to fix. I declined the offer and he recommended me a donation based shop called Bike Together. However, the shop closed at 5pm for the weekend and it was already 3:45pm. I saw a guy walking across the street and I YELLED "Hey! Can I catch a ride with you:?". He (Steve) said sure and put my bike in the back of his truck, asked where I was going, took me and didn't even charge me. I arrived to the shop and a volunteer named Stewart of the establishment fixed my bike for FREE. I donated all the cash I had in my wallet and was riding like normal again.

The Baltimore BNote Green Currency... I started volunteering with this organization in 2012 and was eventually hired on as the marketing director in 2015. This is when I basically took over the organization and was identified as "BNote guy" in Baltimore. 2016, we released our second series BN10 & BN20 then I moved to Denver. It was such a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE part of my life for so long. Once I moved back to Baltimore, I found out the organization is pretty much inactive now. However, people are still curious about the concept and hisotry. That being said, I was contacted by a JHU student writing a thesis on alternative currencies. We talked on the phone about the organization that changed my life and started my career and built up many communities in Charm City. Truly was a fond experience for me sharing all my love and memories towards something I cherished so much in my early to mid twenties. If you're curious about learning more about The BNote, check out the website here.

A few hike reviews I've done this year (because why not?):
* Bluffs Park Trail - neighborhood trail, great views from the top of surrounding areas.
* North Table Mountain - steep trail, gorgeous at the top, reminded me of ancient ruins
* Mt Falcon - solid outlooks everywhere, historic moments and a lookout tower was nice touches
*Meyer Ranch Park - One of the best mountains for views from the top! AMAZING hike.
*Lair O The Bear - Unique, weird, fun castle a couple miles into the hike, nice lakes, mainly flat.

L E A R N I N G:
A few tips I want to provide to readers that I've learned since my last post:

1. TAKE RISKS/TAKE CHANCES - life is too short for anything else. My biological mom passed 2 months, and 2 days into being 30. If I followed that same trajectory I would have passed February 7th, 2020. That is a HUGE perspective of how short life is in my opinion. Basically what I'm trying to convey is for you to go for it. If you have a dream that you want to accomplish, start now and never give up.

2. Ryan Holiday is a genius - The Obstacle is the Way (book) has challenged my values and beliefs for the best. His writing is very profound and has made me change my outlook on big parts of my life. I highly recommend you look him and check out his work.

3. Chain Reactions - I signed up with Meetup.com this year, found House of Pod through a meetup. This transpired me to meet Rachel which is the host of Poems 4 People. I was a guest on her show and had an amazing time being on it and learned so much in the short amount of time I've known about HOP. In other

4. Commitment to Change - My entire life, I thought to myself once my aunt passes I won't be able to survive without her. Although, it's been severally challenging without her, I identified new strategies to help me with this transition. Weekly meditation goals, monthly self reflection Q&A's, daily gratitude list, annual running goals, spirituality and more. I've committed to the change of making myself a better, happier person without the most important person that ever existed in my life. Thus far, it's been successful and I encourage anyone to try similar actions.

5. Recommendations and Notes - Within the past few months, anytime someone suggests something to me, I take it pretty serious. I look up typically that day and try to analyze what about this recommendation interest me. Also, why was the recommended to me and how it reflects on me good or bad as a person. I take notes of recommendations and parts of the suggestion that stand out to me.

This is my blog, almost like a personal journal exposed for anyone to read about my life. I hope you enjoyed and received some type of value within this post.

Thanks for reading.
